Rover Aero review
Review updated:
Rover Aero is a 5-Star Aero Sword support from Version 2.2, and she is the free Aero form of the Rover that every account already owns. Her kit has one clear purpose: she raises the number of Aero Erosion stacks an enemy is allowed to carry, amplifies the whole team's Aero damage through her free signature sword, and heals everyone while she does it. Everything runs through Windstrings, the mid-air Forte attack Cloudburst Dance, the enhanced Skill Unbound Flow, and the Outro Storm's Echo, which grants Aeolian Realm.
She is a support, so do not judge her by her damage number. In her most-tested structures she deals about 10%–14% of the team's damage from only 5.81–6.4 seconds of field time. Across all tested teams, her share ranges from 6.29% in an opening rotation to 19.13% in the leanest composition. Her solo damage breakdown is Resonance Skill 71.10%, Resonance Liberation 18.94%, Echo 8.16%, and Basic Attack 1.80%.
The live Team DPS section is the authority for Rover Aero's current tested compositions, ordering, DPS values, and rotations. It updates from the validated Team DPS projection instead of freezing those values in this review.
Quick Verdict
There is nothing to pull here, and nothing to spend. Rover Aero is free from the Version 2.2 main quest. Her signature sword, Bloodpact's Pledge, comes free from the same quest, and the four Core of Oath materials that take it to R5 are free from exploration progress in Septimont, Fabricatorium of the Deep, and Sanguis Plateaus. All six sequence nodes are free as well, from main quests, milestones, and delivery levels. Every account that finishes the content reaches S6 with an R5 signature weapon, which is exactly how the site tests her. The only real decision is whether she deserves your Echo pieces.
The honest answer is yes, if you play Cartethyia. Her whole tested career is the Aero Erosion team, and inside it she does one job that ATK-based supports cannot do at all. Outside it she has almost nothing to offer. Her number 1 team is Cartethyia, Ciaccona, and Rover Aero, and the reasons are explained under Team Fit & Account Value.
At S0 she is already functional: Windstrings, Cloudburst Dance, Unbound Flow, the healing, and the Outro's stack-cap raise all work with zero nodes. But the usual S0 conversation does not apply to her because the sequences are not a spending decision. There is no stopping point to plan.
How Rover Aero Works
Windstrings and the number 120
Everything she does is paid for with Windstrings. She holds a maximum of 120 and gains them in three ways:
- Each stage of Mid-air Attack Cloudburst Dance restores 25 Windstrings on hit.
- Casting her Intro Skill restores 20 Windstrings.
- Hitting a target with Basic Attack Stage 3 or 4, or a Dodge Counter, restores 10 Windstrings.
Resonance Skill Unbound Flow consumes 60 Windstrings per stage, and it has two stages. A complete Unbound Flow therefore costs exactly 120 Windstrings, the entire bar. That is the most important number in her kit: her rotation exists to produce exactly one full bar per loop.
The Forte and the two ways her Skill behaves
Her Resonance Skill, Awakening Gale, is a jump-and-slash on a short 3-second cooldown. Pressing Skill again while she is airborne gives Skyfall Severance on a 12-second cooldown. It removes all stacks of Spectro Frazzle, Havoc Bane, Fusion Burst, Glacio Chafe, and Electro Flare from the target hit, then inflicts 1 stack of Aero Erosion for each stack removed.
This condition is a real failure point. Skyfall Severance converts other elements' Negative Statuses into Aero Erosion; it creates nothing on its own. In an all-Aero team there is no valid status for it to remove, so it inflicts nothing. That is why no tested Rover Aero rotation uses it. It is a mixed Negative Status tool, while her best team is not mixed.
Right after Awakening Gale, pressing Normal Attack gives Mid-air Attack Cloudburst Dance, a two-stage attack that counts as Resonance Skill damage and heals every nearby Resonator in the team. At Forte level 10, the stages deal 128.80% and 141.47%, and each stage heals 627 + 23.10% of her ATK. There are three ways into Cloudburst Dance: after Awakening Gale, after her Intro Skill, or after Heavy Attack Razor Wind. The tested rotations use only the first two.
At 120 Windstrings, Awakening Gale is replaced by Resonance Skill Unbound Flow. Stage 1 deals 34.30% five times and Stage 2 deals 723.03% at Forte level 10, both as Resonance Skill damage. Stage 2 is her biggest hit by a wide margin, which is why 71.10% of her damage is Skill damage.
The speed tech: switching to another Resonator after Stage 1 automatically triggers Stage 2. Rover Aero casts Stage 1, immediately uses her Outro to leave, and Stage 2 fires while the next character is already working. Her biggest hit costs no extra field time. This is what the tested rotation labels mean by "2nd Unbound (Cancel)."
Liberation, Inherent Skills, and Outro
Resonance Liberation Omega Storm deals 536.79% at level 10 and heals every nearby Resonator for 2090 + 77.00% of her ATK, on a 24-second cooldown. Her second Inherent Skill, Boundless Winds, increases that healing by 20%.
Her first Inherent Skill, Sand in the Storm, gives her own ATK +20% for 10 seconds when she casts her Intro Skill. This is a self buff, not a team buff. It is one of three reasons her opening rotation is her weakest: there is no previous character to Outro into her, so she gets no Intro, losing the 20% ATK, 20 Windstrings, and the Intro's damage.
Storm's Echo: grants Aeolian Realm to all nearby Resonators in the team for 30 seconds. When someone with Aeolian Realm hits a target, that target's maximum Aero Erosion stacks increase by 3 for 10 seconds. The effect is not stackable.
This does not behave like a normal Outro. It reaches everyone in the team at once and lasts 30 seconds regardless of who is on the field. The buff does nothing to the enemy until a character with Aeolian Realm lands a hit; each following hit then refreshes the 10-second window. Team order does not gate the effect, and Rover Aero can Outro into any character.
The standard Aero Erosion ceiling is 3 stacks, and the Outro takes it to 6. Cartethyia's second Inherent Skill, Wind's Indelible Imprint, makes targets with 1 to 3 stacks take 30% more damage from Cartethyia and Fleurdelys, then adds 10% more damage per stack above 3, up to 3 stacks. That second half is worth up to 30% more damage, and it exists only when something raises the ceiling above 3.
Bloodpact's Pledge adds a second team-wide effect. When Rover Aero casts Unbound Flow, Aero damage dealt by nearby Resonators is amplified for 30 seconds: 10% at R1 and 26% at R5. Like Aeolian Realm, it reaches the whole team and comfortably covers a full rotation.
Cartethyia pays her back
Cartethyia's first Inherent Skill, A Heart's Truest Wishes, increases healing received by all Resonators other than Cartethyia and Fleurdelys by 20% and improves their interruption resistance. If Rover Aero is in the team, it also makes Rover Aero restore 25 Windstrings when she casts Omega Storm.
That clause is the difference between her two tested rotations, and the Windstring math proves it.
Tested rotations
With Cartethyia, opening rotation with no Intro available, about 6.4 seconds of field time:
Skill > Basic 1, 2 > Basic 4 > Skill > Basic 1, 2 > Echo > Liberation > Skill 1 > Outro > Skill 2
With Cartethyia, every later rotation, about 5.81 seconds of field time:
Intro > Basic 1, 2 > Basic 4 > Skill > Basic 1, 2 > Echo > Liberation > Skill 1 > Outro > Skill 2
Without Cartethyia's Windstring refund, about 7.23–7.37 seconds of field time:
Skill > Basic 1, 2, 4 > Skill > Basic 1, 2, 4 > Echo > Liberation > Skill 1 > Skill 2 > Outro
In these strings, "Basic 1, 2" means the two Cloudburst Dance stages, "Basic 4" is the Basic Attack Stage 4 after landing from the plunge, and "Skill 1" and "Skill 2" are the two Unbound Flow stages.
The Windstring totals show why each version works:
- Opening with Cartethyia: four Cloudburst Dance hits give 100, one Basic Stage 4 gives 10, and Omega Storm refunds 25. That is 135, capped at 120, for one full Unbound Flow.
- Later with Cartethyia: the Intro gives 20, and four Cloudburst Dance hits give 100. That is exactly 120 before the Basic Stage 4 and Liberation refund land, so both become insurance against a missed hit.
- Without Cartethyia: there is no 25-point refund, so she needs a second Basic Attack Stage 4. Cloudburst Dance gives 100, then the two Basic hits add 10 and 10 to reach 120. That extra hit makes the rotation about one to one and a half seconds longer, and this tested string does not use the Outro cancel.
Her inputs are the same in every tested team: one core string, one opening variation, and one longer version for teams that cannot feed her Windstrings.
Build Priorities
Her tested solo damage profile is:
- Resonance Skill: 71.10%
- Resonance Liberation: 18.94%
- Echo: 8.16%
- Basic Attack: 1.80%
Substat priority: Crit Rate > Crit DMG > ATK% > Skill DMG Bonus > Energy Regen.
The 150% Energy Regen target is about availability, not scaling. Rover Aero stays on field for under six seconds and needs Omega Storm every rotation for healing and, with Cartethyia, the 25-Windstring refund. Bloodpact's Pledge already provides 38.9% Energy Regen, taking her from the 100% base to 138.9%; ordinary substats cover the remaining eleven points.
Talent priority: Normal Attack, Forte Circuit, and Resonance Liberation to level 10; Resonance Skill and Intro Skill to level 6. Cloudburst Dance and Unbound Flow both live in the Forte Circuit, which is why the Forte is max priority while the Skill button sits at 6.
Echo set: 5-piece Windward Pilgrimage. The 2-piece gives 10% Aero DMG. The 5-piece gives 10% Crit Rate and 30% Aero DMG Bonus for 10 seconds when she hits a target carrying Aero Erosion.
She cannot reliably apply Aero Erosion herself because Skyfall Severance needs another element's Negative Status to convert. The 5-piece condition therefore depends on a teammate marking the enemy first.
The tested teams reflect that rule. Structures with both Cartethyia and Ciaccona use Windward Pilgrimage. The leaner Cartethyia teams with Sanhua or Shorekeeper, and the Sigrika team, test Rover Aero on Sierra Gale instead because fewer Aero Erosion appliers are feeding her. The more reliably the team maintains Aero Erosion while Rover Aero attacks, the more Windward Pilgrimage is worth.
Main Echo: Reminiscence: Fleurdelys. It deals 27.36% Aero DMG eight times and 136.80% once, and grants 10% Aero DMG Bonus to the main-slot Resonator plus another 10% if that Resonator is Rover Aero or Cartethyia. She receives the full 20%.
Echo main stats: Cost 4 Crit Rate; Aero or ATK on both Cost 3; ATK on both Cost 1. Cost 4 Healing Bonus is the alternative when she is the only healer, at the cost of the Crit Rate main stat.
Every comparison row uses Bloodpact's Pledge:
- Windward Pilgrimage, Cost 4 Crit Rate with 2 Aero Cost 3: 100%
- Windward Pilgrimage, Cost 4 Crit Rate with 1 ATK and 1 Aero Cost 3: 99.91%
- Windward Pilgrimage, Cost 4 Crit Rate with 2 ATK Cost 3: 97.13%
- Windward Pilgrimage, Cost 4 Crit Rate plus Cost 4 Crit DMG with 3 Cost 1 ATK: 96.12%
- Sierra Gale, Cost 4 Crit Rate with 1 ATK and 1 Aero Cost 3: 88.05%
Two conclusions matter.
First, the Cost 3 choice barely matters. Two Aero pieces beat a mixed ATK and Aero pair by only 0.09%. Neither stat is saturated, so use the pieces with better substats.
Second, the set choice matters enormously. With the same Echo layout, Sierra Gale loses about 12 points. Both 5-piece effects give 30% Aero DMG Bonus, but Windward Pilgrimage adds 10% Crit Rate. Sierra Gale also triggers from the Intro Skill, and Rover Aero has no Intro in her opening rotation. Use it only while farming Windward Pilgrimage or when nobody applies Aero Erosion for her.
Weapon: Bloodpact's Pledge, with no real second option. It gives 587 ATK and 38.9% Energy Regen. Providing healing grants 26% Resonance Skill DMG for 6 seconds, and casting Unbound Flow grants the team-wide 26% Aero DMG amplification for 30 seconds. The second passive names Rover Aero, so another sword does not merely reduce her damage; it removes a team buff.
R5 costs nothing. At R1 both passives are 10%; at R5 both are 26%. The four Core of Oath materials come from exploration progress, so R5 is a completion task rather than a purchase, and the tested builds use it.
Team Fit & Account Value
Her number 1 team is Cartethyia, Ciaccona, and Rover Aero. Every other composition is an alternative, and the top tested structures are all the same three characters with different Ciaccona rotations.
Why Cartethyia specifically
The two characters reference each other in three separate places:
- Rover Aero's Outro raises the Aero Erosion ceiling by 3. Cartethyia's second Inherent Skill is the only part of the team that pays for stacks above 3, with up to 10% more damage taken per extra stack, for three stacks.
- Cartethyia gives Rover Aero 25 Windstrings on Omega Storm, shortening Rover Aero's rotation by removing a Basic Attack from the loop.
- Reminiscence: Fleurdelys grants an extra 10% Aero DMG Bonus specifically to Rover Aero or Cartethyia, and to nobody else.
Cartethyia scales with HP, not ATK. Her substat priority is Crit Rate, Crit DMG, then HP%, and her target is 48,000–50,000 HP. A support who hands out ATK gives her almost nothing.
Rover Aero gives no team ATK. Sand in the Storm affects only herself. What she passes over is a debuff on the enemy through the Aero Erosion ceiling, amplification from the sword, and healing. None of those depend on the carry's scaling stat, which is why she works where ATK supports fail.
Ciaccona's part
Ciaccona applies Aero Erosion and amplifies Aero Erosion damage dealt to nearby targets by 100% for 30 seconds. She supplies the stacks Windward Pilgrimage needs and multiplies the status damage produced by those extra stacks. Her fast rotation separates the top tested version of this team from the slower versions.
The premium alternative
The same Cartethyia and Ciaccona core is also tested with Chisa, and the current projection places the Chisa version ahead, though not by a wide margin.
The difference is not personal damage: in the same structure, Chisa and Rover Aero both land in the low-to-mid teens of team damage. It comes from what each gives Cartethyia. Chisa brings 18% DEF ignore on the marked target, a stack-cap raise, and shields. Rover Aero brings the Aero Erosion ceiling raise, a 26% team-wide Aero DMG amplification, and healing inside her normal rotation. The tested Chisa version uses her damage build, not her healing build, so it has no healer.
The practical rule is simple. If you own Chisa and she is not committed to another Negative Status team, she is the stronger third slot. If you do not own her, Rover Aero performs the core job at zero account cost and brings sustain. Sanhua and Shorekeeper appear in the leaner tested Cartethyia structures.
The Sigrika team
Her only tested home away from Cartethyia is the Sigrika and Ciaccona team. Rover Aero uses Sierra Gale, runs the longer rotation without Cartethyia's Windstring refund, and no longer feeds Cartethyia's damage bonus. Her Outro still lets the enemy hold more Aero Erosion stacks, and Ciaccona still amplifies their damage by 100%, so the effect is smaller rather than wasted. Rover Aero's personal share drops to about 6% in the opening rotation.
Use the live Team DPS section for the current tested compositions, ordering, DPS values, equipment, and rotations. Those cards are the authority for mutable team results.
Her honest limits
- Outside Aero Erosion teams she has no tested home. Her Outro pays out only where something scales with Aero Erosion stacks, and her sword amplifies only Aero damage.
- Skyfall Severance does nothing in her best team. Its only Aero Erosion application route needs another element's Negative Status, and an all-Aero team has none.
- Cartethyia's S2 raises the same ceiling by 3 through her Liberation, so the unique part of Rover Aero's value is largest with S0 Cartethyia.
- She and Cartethyia want the same equipment. Both use Windward Pilgrimage and Reminiscence: Fleurdelys, so build Cartethyia's set first.
- Her opening rotation is her weakest. Without an Intro she loses 20 Windstrings, the 20% ATK from Sand in the Storm, and the Intro's damage.
- She is only your healer if you build her as one. Healing Bonus on Cost 4 replaces the Crit Rate main stat used by the tested damage build.
At the page's 2305 ATK target, each Cloudburst Dance stage heals the team for roughly 1160, and the tested rotation lands four stages. Omega Storm heals for roughly 3865 before Boundless Winds and roughly 4640 after it. That totals close to 9300 team healing per rotation before her Forte nodes add 12% Healing Bonus and Cartethyia's Inherent Skill adds 20% to healing received by everyone except Cartethyia.
Sequence Value
At S0, Rover Aero's kit is complete: Windstrings, Cloudburst Dance, Unbound Flow, Omega Storm, and the Outro's stack-cap raise all work without nodes. All six sequences are free from quests, milestone progress, and delivery levels. There is no stopping point or spending decision. The page rates every node at 5/5, which for a free sequence track simply means take them all.
Her sequence damage chart is S0 100% → S1 100% → S2 100% → S3 107% → S4 112% → S5 116% → S6 128%.
- S1 — Storm Subsides in the Void (5/5): Cloudburst Dance grants 3 seconds of interruption resistance. The damage chart stays flat, but protecting the four hits that generate 100 of her 120 Windstrings protects the full rotation.
- S2 — Glimmers Fade into the Dark (5/5): Unbound Flow heals the on-field Resonator for 20% of Rover's ATK every 3 seconds for 30 seconds. Below 35% HP, it immediately restores 10% of lost HP once every 10 seconds, unaffected by Healing Bonus. The continuous part totals 200% of her ATK, about 4610 HP at the page's 2305 ATK target. This is her real sustain node even though the personal damage chart remains flat.
- S3 — Illusions Collapse in a Grip (5/5): 15% Aero DMG Bonus. Her first damage node moves the chart from 100% to 107%.
- S4 — Boundaries Shatter in an Instant (5/5): Cloudburst Dance grants 15% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus for 5 seconds. The chart rises from 107% to 112%, matching her Skill-heavy damage profile.
- S5 — Life and Death Intertwine (5/5): Omega Storm's multiplier increases by 20%. Liberation is 18.94% of her damage, and 20% of 18.94% is about 3.8 points; the chart moves from 112% to 116%.
- S6 — All Crumble in the Wind (5/5): Unbound Flow's multiplier increases by 30%. This is the largest chart jump, from 116% to 128%, because Stage 2 at 723.03% is her biggest hit.
Not one node changes who she can play with. The sequences add personal damage or survivability inside the same team; S6 does not open a new role or new teammate. That is fine because every account can claim the full track for free.
Pull Value
There is nothing to pull, and no refinement or sequence to buy. The real decision is whether to spend Echo pieces, materials, and farming time on her.
Build Rover Aero if:
- You play Cartethyia. Rover Aero raises the Aero Erosion ceiling that Cartethyia's damage bonus needs and receives a Windstring refund from Cartethyia in return.
- You want a support whose whole package works on an HP-scaling carry; none of her team value is ATK-based.
- You want a healer who contributes real damage from under six seconds of field time and costs nothing to own.
- You want a short, stable rotation with one shorter Cartethyia variant.
- You are early in the account and want a working Aero Erosion core before owning the premium pieces.
Skip or delay Rover Aero if:
- You do not play Cartethyia or an Aero Erosion team. Her Outro, sword, and Echo set all depend on that status.
- You own Chisa and she is free for the third slot; she tests ahead in the Cartethyia and Ciaccona core.
- Your Windward Pilgrimage pieces are still needed by Cartethyia. Build the carry's set first.
- You want a support who upgrades several teams at once. Rover Aero upgrades one idea, and she does it well.
