Changli review

Review updated:

Changli is a 5-Star Fusion Sword character from Version 1.1, one of the oldest limited damage dealers in the game. Her kit is built around the True Sight state, the Enflamement stacks that feed her Forte hit Flaming Sacrifice, and an Outro that hands the next character 20% Fusion DMG Amplification and 25% Resonance Liberation DMG Amplification. She is a dual-DPS, not a support: in her tested teams she deals roughly a third of the team's damage next to another carry, rising to about half when she leads the Fusion core herself — on a main-DPS-length field time of about 12 seconds.

The live Team DPS section is the authority for Changli's current tested compositions, ordering, DPS values, and rotations. It updates from the validated Team DPS projection instead of freezing those values in this review.

Quick Verdict

Changli is complete at S0 — the full True Sight loop, both Flaming Sacrifices, and her Outro all work without sequences — and she remains one of the most enjoyable kits in the game to play. The pulling advice is conditional and blunt: she is only worth considering if Brant and Lupa are already in your account. Her tested teams that matter all run through the Fusion core — Lupa above all, with Brant completing it — and without them her tested teams sit at the bottom of the validated projection. If you own neither, there is no version of your account where pulling Changli is the right spend. For owners of the core, set expectations honestly: even her best tested team sits in the middle of the projection, and she is no carry's best partner.

Best teams4/10 — functional and tested with the Fusion core, but mid-projection, and every carry she pairs with has a better option
General teams3/10 — outside the Fusion core her Outro is half-wasted and her teams fall to the bottom
F2P valueSkip — unless Brant and Lupa are already owned, she changes nothing
Whale valueLow — S6 reaches 207% on her personal chart, but this is a Version 1.1 dual-DPS; for dedicated Changli mains only

How Changli Works

True Sight and Enflamement. Changli enters True Sight (12s) through her Basic Attack 4, her Mid-air Attack 4, her Intro, or her Skill dash True Sight: Capture (2 charges, one refilling every 12s). While in True Sight, her next attack becomes a dash finisher that ends the state: True Sight: Conquest on the ground or True Sight: Charge from the air — both counted as Resonance Skill DMG, and each hit grants 1 Enflamement stack (4 max). This is why over 65% of her solo damage is Skill damage.

Flaming Sacrifice. At 4 Enflamement, her Heavy Attack consumes all stacks into Flaming Sacrifice — her signature hit, counted as Skill DMG, with 40% damage reduction while casting. Her Liberation, Radiance of Fealty, deals a Fusion hit, instantly grants all 4 Enflamement stacks, and starts Fiery Feather: a Flaming Sacrifice cast within the next 10 seconds gains +25% ATK. So the rotation's shape is: build stacks through True Sight dashes, cash the first Flaming Sacrifice, then Liberation refills the stacks and powers a second, stronger Flaming Sacrifice. Her Inherent Skills add +5% Fusion DMG per Enflamement stack on her True Sight finishers, and +20% Fusion DMG plus 15% DEF ignore whenever she casts Flaming Sacrifice or Liberation.

Her Outro. Strategy of Duality gives the incoming Resonator — one character, only through her Outro — 20% Fusion DMG Amplification and 25% Resonance Liberation DMG Amplification for 10 seconds, ending early if they swap out. Note the type half: it only lands fully on a Fusion carry whose damage is Liberation-typed. Keep that in mind for Team Fit — it decides every team she has.

About the quick-swap reputation. Changli is historically the quick-swap character, and the kit genuinely supports it: two Skill charges, mid-air casting on nearly everything, and dash animations that can be swap-canceled at several points, so she can weave in and out of the field around another carry. But here is the tested reality: every one of her ten tested teams runs the exact same on-field rotation, and the data types it as "Basic (No Swaps)" — about 12 seconds of uninterrupted field time. The tested way to play her is as a second on-field damage dealer, not a swap-bot. Quick-swap weaving remains real optional tech that raises her ceiling with the right partner — but it is a strength you can explore, not her tested identity, and nothing in her best teams requires it.

Tested rotation — identical in all ten tested teams, about 12 seconds of field time:

Intro > Plunge > Basic 3, 4 > Basic 5 > Skill > Basic > Skill > Basic > Heavy > Liberation > Heavy > Outro

One string to learn, used everywhere — a genuine comfort point.

Build Priorities

Her tested solo damage profile: Resonance Skill 65.45%, Resonance Liberation 18.56%, Echo 8.89%, Basic Attack 5.19%, Intro 1.92%. Build her as a Skill damage dealer.

Sub-stat priority: Crit Rate > Crit DMG > ATK% > Resonance Skill DMG Bonus > Energy Regen.

Build targets: ATK around 2,400, Crit Rate 75%, Crit DMG 275%, Energy Regen 125% (Liberation every rotation — it is her second-largest share and it reloads Enflamement), Skill DMG Bonus 43%.

Talent priority: Resonance Skill, Forte Circuit, and Resonance Liberation to Lv. 10; Normal Attack and Intro Skill to Lv. 6.

Her Echo set is 5-piece Molten Rift with Nightmare: Inferno Rider as the main Echo (12% Fusion DMG and 12% Skill DMG for the main slot) — the set's 30% Fusion DMG on Skill cast is permanent in her rotation. The page's Cost 3 comparison is a coin flip: Fusion/ATK at 100%, Fusion/Fusion at 99.59% — sub-stat quality decides, so do not rebuild over it.

Weapons, from the page's comparison: Blazing Brilliance R1 at 100% (R5 at 114.96%), with Emerald of Genesis R1 at 88.18% (R5 at 92.15%) as the standard-banner option. She deals a third to half of her team's damage, so she is closer to a main DPS than a sub-DPS here — for owners who play her regularly, Blazing Brilliance is the recommendation at R1; Emerald of Genesis is the honest fallback. Given the pull verdict, the weapon advice matters mostly to existing owners: do not pull a signature for a character you should not be pulling.

Team Fit & Account Value

Everything about Changli's teams is decided by one mechanism: her Outro's type half, and the Fusion core's Outro chain. The designed triangle is Lupa > Brant > Changli, and the tested rotation order makes each Outro land on the character who uses it: Lupa's Outro (Fusion + Basic Attack amp) fits Brant, whose damage is 80.66% Basic Attack; Brant's Outro (Fusion + Skill amp) fits Changli, whose damage is 65.45% Skill; and Changli's Outro (Fusion + Liberation amp) fits Lupa, whose damage is 64.19% Liberation. When all three are present, every buff in the loop lands at full value — that is the whole case for this team, and it is tested and functional.

Outside that triangle, the value leaks:

  • Aemeath, Changli and Lupa is statistically her best-tested team, because Aemeath (74.83% Liberation damage, Fusion) uses both halves of Changli's Outro. But the tested team note is damning: Changli neither inflicts Fusion Burst nor responds to Tune Rupture, so Aemeath's own passive stacks and Rupture damage starve — and Aemeath's better-tested partners (Lynae, Denia, Brant) all place higher. Changli is an option here, not the answer.
  • Galbrena, Changli and Lupa shows the same leak from both sides, per its team note: Changli wastes the Basic Attack half of Lupa's Outro (Basic Attack is 5% of her damage), Galbrena wastes the Liberation half of Changli's, and the rotation runs long. It places well below Galbrena's real teams.
  • Changli with only one of the core — or none — is where she collapses: Changli and Brant with Shorekeeper, and Changli and Lupa with Shorekeeper, both sit at the very bottom of the validated projection. The triangle is not optional for her; it is the difference between a mid-table team and a bottom-table one.

Use the live Team DPS section for the current compositions, ordering, DPS values, equipment, and rotations — it is the only source for those mutable results.

Her honest limits: her Outro ends the moment the carry swaps out, so the quick-swap playstyle she is famous for actively fights her own buff; the Liberation half is wasted on carries whose damage is not Liberation-typed; her 12-second field time is a cost every team pays; and she inflicts no Negative Status and feeds no Tune mechanic, so newer carries whose kits scale off those get nothing extra from her. She is a Fusion-core veteran, not a general sub-DPS.

Sequence Value

Changli is complete at S0. The page's sequence damage chart: S0 100% → S1 102% → S2 121% → S3 129% → S4 139% → S5 167% → S6 207%.

  • S1 — Hidden Thoughts (3/5): 10% more damage and interruption resistance on her Skill and Flaming Sacrifice. Mostly comfort (102%).
  • S2 — Pursuit of Desires (5/5): Enflamement grants +25% Crit Rate for 8s — effectively permanent in her rotation. Her first real spike and the classic stopping point (121%).
  • S3 — Learned Secrets (5/5): Liberation damage +80% — a solid bump on her second-largest share (129%).
  • S4 — Polished Words (2/5): After her Intro, the whole team gains +20% ATK for 30s. Her only team-wide node (139%) — useful in the triangle, where three damage dealers share it.
  • S5 — Sacrificed Gains (4/5): Flaming Sacrifice gains +50% multiplier and +50% damage. A big jump on her signature hit (167%).
  • S6 — Realized Plans (5/5): Her Skill, Flaming Sacrifice, and Liberation ignore an additional 40% DEF — the 207% ceiling, stacking with her Inherent Skill's 15%. Real, but it is S6 on a Version 1.1 dual-DPS.

Realistic stopping points: S0 for everyone. Owners who play her daily can justify S2. Nothing past that has an account-value case.

Pull Value

Pull Changli if:

  • You already own Brant and Lupa — with them she completes the tested Fusion triangle, and the team functions as designed. This is the only account state where she is a reasonable spend, and even then she is a luxury addition to a mid-table core, not an upgrade anyone was missing.
  • You love the character — her design, her story, or the high-skill swap-ceiling gameplay she invented — and you are pulling for that reason alone.
  • You are collecting, and completion matters more to you than power.

Skip or delay Changli if:

  • Brant and Lupa are not in your account — full stop. Her tested teams without the Fusion core sit at the bottom of the projection, and there is no budget version that rescues them.
  • You want power per pull — newer carries and their dedicated supports deliver more at S0 with simpler teams.
  • You own Aemeath or Galbrena and think Changli is their missing piece — it is the opposite: their tested partners of choice are Lynae, Denia, Brant, and Qiuyuan, and Changli's versions place below all of them.
  • You are F2P or a low spender — she is a Version 1.1 unit asking for two specific limited teammates; that is the worst possible spend profile for a tight budget.
  • You already own her and wonder about sequences or her signature — S0 with Emerald of Genesis is correct; S2 is the most that is ever sensible.
