Review
Rover Havoc review
Review updated:
Rover Havoc is a 5-Star Havoc Sword main DPS from Version 1.0. He is the protagonist's free Havoc form, so every account owns him and can eventually reach S6 without spending anything. His kit is one concentrated burst window: fill Umbra, spend it on Heavy Attack Devastation to enter Dark Surge, then use the enhanced Basic Attack chain and Deadening Abyss, a single 1520.90% Liberation hit.
The live Team DPS section remains the authority for tested compositions, ordering, DPS values, and rotations. Rover Havoc has no tested team in the current projection, so the team discussion below comes from his kit, his partners' kit text, and the route published on the site's Rotations page rather than tested team results.
Quick Verdict
Rover Havoc is complete at S0, cheap to build, and easy to play. He is also a Version 1.0 carry whose damage is modest by current standards. His kit applies no Negative Status, provides nothing to a teammate before S4, and starts from 413 base ATK, below Camellya at 450, Phrolova at 437, and Xuanling at 425 even though every one of his multipliers scales with ATK.
His genuine strength is independence. He needs only a character whose Outro amplifies Havoc or Basic Attack damage and a healer. No partner has to feed his gauge, apply a status, or maintain another condition, so almost any account can assemble a working team around him.
Build him if you lack a Havoc main DPS or need a free, fully finished carry for a second team. He can clear the content most accounts play, but he will not compete with a modern limited carry. There is also no spending plan: his six sequences are free, he has no signature weapon, and S2 plus S6 are the nodes that most change how he plays.
How Rover Havoc Works
Umbra and Devastation
Umbra is his Forte gauge and holds up to 100 points. Four actions fill it:
- Normal Attack Tuneslayer restores Umbra on hit, so a missed string builds nothing.
- Resonance Skill Wingblade restores Umbra when cast, even if the enemy moves.
- Lifetaker, the Dark Surge version of the Skill, also restores Umbra when cast.
- Intro Skill Instant of Annihilation restores Umbra when cast.
At full Umbra, holding Basic Attack casts Devastation for 228.14% Heavy Attack damage and opens Dark Surge.
Dark Surge
Dark Surge changes the attacks that matter for his rotation:
- The five-stage Enhanced Basic Attack chain deals 56.37% > 93.94% > 155.67% > 37.13% x3 + 111.39% > 28.52% x4 + 114.07%, about 756.91% for one complete chain.
- The Enhanced Heavy Attack deals 128.83%, then Basic Attack can cast Thwackblade for 126.65% + 9.95% x4, also as Heavy Attack damage.
- Wingblade at 286.29% x2 becomes Lifetaker at 276.35% x2 + 9.95% x4, about 592.50%.
- Metamorph grants 20% Havoc DMG Bonus during the state, while Bleak Crescendo restores 1 Resonance Energy when a Basic Attack hits, once per second.
His two damage pillars are almost the same size: Deadening Abyss deals 1520.90% in one press, while one full Dark Surge Basic chain is about 756.91% and two chains total roughly 1513.82%. Everything outside Dark Surge prepares those two pillars.
Devastation, the enhanced Heavy Attack, and Thwackblade total about 523%. That is real damage, but only around one third of either pillar, so Rover Havoc is not a Heavy Attack carry.
Outro
Soundweaver leaves a Havoc Field that deals 143.3% Havoc DMG every 2 seconds for 6 seconds: three ticks and about 429.9% total. This is damage left on the field, not a buff for the incoming character. Outside S4, Rover Havoc contributes nothing to a teammate.
Published rotation with Phrolova and Shorekeeper
This is the route currently published on the site's Rotations page:
Rover Havoc: Skill > swap to Shorekeeper
Shorekeeper: Basic 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 > Heavy > Skill > Basic 1, 2, 3 > Liberation > Echo > Outro
Phrolova: Basic 1, 2, 3 > Enhanced Skill > Echo Skill > Skill > Enhanced Skill > Basic 1, 2, 3 > Enhanced Skill > Heavy (Scarlet Coda) > Liberation > Outro
Rover Havoc: Skill > Heavy (Devastation, enter Dark Surge) > Basic combo > Echo > Liberation > Forte Skill > spam Basic Attacks > Outro
Next loop: Shorekeeper enhanced Intro > swap to Rover > Rover Skill > swap back to Shorekeeper > repeat
What the rotation is doing
The opening Wingblade is a timer as much as an attack. It banks Umbra, then starts the Skill's 12-second cooldown while another character is active. When Rover returns, another Wingblade fills Umbra, Devastation opens Dark Surge, and the rotation waits for that cooldown before Lifetaker. S2 removes this wait by resetting the cooldown as Dark Surge begins.
Deadening Abyss costs 125 Resonance Energy, has a 16-second cooldown, and triggers Dreamless's special condition. Dreamless deals 50% more damage during the first 5 seconds after the Liberation, so only Echo hits that land after Deadening Abyss receive it.
The published route uses Echo first and cancels its long recovery with the Liberation, saving field time. With Dreamless, the higher-damage order is Liberation first and Echo inside the 5-second window, worth about 270% more Echo damage. With another Cost 4 Echo, use the published animation cancel because the special clause does not apply.
Build Priorities
There is no Build section on his page yet, so these targets come from his kit, multipliers, and the stat data published by the site rather than a tested build.
Damage profile: build him as a Basic Attack carry with a genuine Liberation pillar. Lifetaker, the Heavy-typed attacks, Echo, Intro, and Outro fill the space around those two main sources.
Substat priority: Crit Rate > Crit DMG > ATK% > Basic Attack DMG Bonus > Energy Regen > Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus. Nothing in his kit scales with HP or DEF.
Talent priority: Normal Attack, Resonance Skill, Forte Circuit, and Resonance Liberation to level 10; Intro Skill to level 6. His Forte tree also gives 12% Havoc DMG and 12% ATK, so finish it.
Energy Regen: aim for roughly 125%. Deadening Abyss costs 125 and must be available every rotation for its damage and the Dreamless condition. Bleak Crescendo helps, but does not fund the loop alone.
Crit and the S6 breakpoint
At S6, his base 5% Crit Rate, Emerald of Genesis's 24.3%, and the node's 25% total 54.3% inside Dark Surge before Echo stats. Use a 44% Crit DMG Cost 4 at S6; a 22% Crit Rate Cost 4 would already reach 76.3% before substats. Below S6, use Crit Rate and switch after unlocking the sixth Waveband.
Echoes
Use 5-piece Havoc Eclipse. Its 2-piece gives 10% Havoc DMG; the 5-piece adds 7.5% Havoc DMG per Basic or Heavy Attack, up to four stacks for 15 seconds, or 30% Havoc DMG at full stacks. His normal Umbra setup reaches those stacks naturally.
- Dreamless: 54.08% x5 + 270.40%, about 540.80%, then about 811.20% when its 50% post-Liberation condition applies. Cast Deadening Abyss first and use Dreamless inside the 5-second window.
- Nightmare: Crownless: 264.6% per charge, 3 charges on a 12-second recharge, plus permanent 12% Havoc DMG Bonus and 12% Basic Attack DMG Bonus from the main slot.
Dreamless is the recommendation because Rover Havoc is the only character who can activate its named condition and his Liberation is already mandatory. Nightmare: Crownless is easier while learning because its main-slot bonuses do not depend on timing.
Echo main stats: Crit DMG on Cost 4 at S6, or Crit Rate below S6; Havoc DMG or ATK% on both Cost 3 slots; ATK% on both Cost 1 slots. One Cost 3 Energy Regen piece is acceptable until substats reach the 125% target.
Weapons
- Emerald of Genesis is the practical best: 24.3% Crit Rate, 12.8% Energy Regen at R1, and stacking ATK% from the Skill he casts repeatedly.
- Red Spring and Unflickering Valor both stack Basic Attack DMG Bonus and work if already owned, but neither is worth chasing specifically for him.
- Lumingloss is the budget answer with 36.4% ATK plus 20% Basic Attack DMG Bonus and 20% Heavy Attack DMG Bonus for 10 seconds after casting the Skill. Commando of Conviction and Somnoire Anchor are other reasonable 4-Star swords.
- Avoid Azure Oath. Its Havoc Bane condition never activates because Rover Havoc applies no Negative Status, leaving only the always-on 12% All-Attribute DMG Bonus from a weapon whose important Heavy Attack effects do not work for him.
Team Fit & Account Value
Choose partners by one question: who gives the incoming character Havoc or Basic Attack amplification? Outro buffs end when their receiver leaves the field, which suits Rover Havoc because he enters last and stays for his whole burst window.
- Roccia gives the incoming character 20% Havoc DMG and 25% Basic Attack DMG amplification for 14 seconds. With Midnight Veil, its 5-piece adds 15% Havoc DMG Bonus for 15 seconds.
- Sanhua is the free answer, giving the next character 38% Basic Attack DMG Deepen for 14 seconds through Silversnow.
- Phrolova gives 20% Havoc DMG and 25% Heavy Attack DMG amplification. He uses the Havoc half fully but only partially uses the Heavy half; her off-field Havoc damage is why the published route still works.
- Cantarella gives 20% Havoc DMG and 25% Resonance Skill DMG amplification. Again, the Havoc half is fully useful while the Skill half covers only Lifetaker.
- Danjin gives 23% Havoc DMG Deepen for 14 seconds, making her another on-profile budget option, though she wants the same Havoc Eclipse pieces.
- Shorekeeper gives all nearby party members 15% damage amplification for up to 30 seconds. Self Gravitation also raises Rover's Energy Regen by 10% when they share a team, covering part of his 125% target. Verina is the budget sustain alternative.
One Rover, one slot: Rover Havoc, Rover Spectro, and Rover Aero cannot share a team. Check whether another Rover form already provides more account value before building a second Echo set.
His limits are clear. The Outro gives teammates no buff, he applies no Negative Status, his base ATK is low for a modern carry, and he has no signature weapon. He also competes with other Havoc carries for the same partners and Havoc Eclipse pieces.
Sequence Value
All six Wavebands are free through main story acts, Sonance Casket delivery, and an exploration quest. Rover Havoc is complete at S0, so these nodes improve a finished kit rather than unlock it. The page rates every node 5/5 because every account can eventually claim the full free path.
S2 is the largest rotation upgrade, while S6 changes the Echo main stat. The full sequence path is:
- S1 — Cryptic Insight (5/5): grants 30% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus. It is modest alone but improves once S2 guarantees Lifetaker inside Dark Surge.
- S2 — Waning Crescent (5/5): resets the Resonance Skill cooldown when Devastation opens Dark Surge. Lifetaker becomes immediately available instead of waiting through the 12-second cooldown.
- S3 — Surging Resonance (5/5): Basic Attack 5 in Dark Surge restores HP equal to 10% of total HP lost. This is survivability with no damage gain.
- S4 — Annihilated Silence (5/5): Devastation and Deadening Abyss reduce the enemy's Havoc RES by 10% for 20 seconds on hit. This is his only team-facing effect.
- S5 — Aeon Symphony (5/5): Basic Attack 5 adds a Havoc hit equal to 50% of its damage. The 228.15% fifth stage therefore gains about 114.08% each time it lands.
- S6 — Ebbing Undercurrent (5/5): grants 25% Crit Rate in Dark Surge, enabling the Crit DMG Cost 4 build.
Realistic value order: S2 first, then S6, followed by S5 and S4; S1 improves after S2 and S3 comes last. The story decides the unlock order, so there is no stopping point or spending decision.
Pull Value
There is nothing to pull: Rover Havoc and all six sequences are free, and no banner sells a signature weapon for him. The real decision is whether he deserves your Echo pieces, levelling items, and a sword.
Build Rover Havoc if:
- You do not own a Havoc main DPS and want a free one that already works at S0.
- You need a finished carry now without a limited partner or signature weapon.
- You need a second endgame team and can spare Roccia, Sanhua, or Danjin.
- Your story progress has already unlocked most of his six free sequences.
- You enjoy the protagonist and want a simple, self-contained burst carry.
Skip or delay Rover Havoc if:
- You already have a modern limited carry whose Echoes still need work.
- Another Rover form already occupies the Rover slot on your account.
- You want a character who improves teammates rather than only taking field time.
- You are building a Negative Status core, because he applies none.
- You expect Version 1.0 performance to match the current limited-carry ceiling.
