Carlotta review
Review updated:
Carlotta is a 5-Star Glacio Pistols main DPS released in Version 2.0. Her kit is built around two resources — Moldable Crystals and Substance — that feed a full-gauge state called Final Bow, and a Resonance Liberation that opens the Twilight Tango shooting sequence. Almost everything she deals is counted as Resonance Skill damage: her tested solo damage profile is Resonance Skill 87.00%, with Outro 6.89%, Echo 3.52%, and Intro 2.59% making up the rest. In her tested teams she is the carry, dealing roughly three quarters to four fifths of the team's damage.
The live Team DPS section is the authority for Carlotta's current tested compositions, ordering, DPS values, and rotations. It updates from the validated Team DPS projection instead of freezing those values in this review.
Quick Verdict
Carlotta is a complete, comfortable main DPS: at S0 her full crystal-and-Substance loop, Final Bow, and Twilight Tango all work without sequences, and her rotation is one of the easiest in the game — it is identical in every tested team. The pulling advice, however, is simple: she is not worth pulling for power right now. She is one of the older limited carries, and her tested teams sit in the lower half of the validated projection — the same investment goes further on a newer damage dealer. The rest of this review is for owners and returning players who want to build and play her correctly.
How Carlotta Works
Carlotta's field stay has three steps: build and spend Moldable Crystals to fill Substance, cash a full Substance gauge into Final Bow, then spend the buff on her Liberation sequence.
Step 1 — Crystals into Substance. She holds up to 6 Moldable Crystals, gained 3 at a time from Basic Attack Stage 2, Heavy Attack, Intro, her first Skill cast, a successful Dodge, or her mid-air flip. Spending crystals restores 10 Substance per crystal (her Intro also gives 30 Substance directly). The two ways to spend them: her Basic Attack becomes Necessary Measures while she holds crystals, with each strike consuming 1 crystal, and her Resonance Skill — Art of Violence — can be pressed again shortly after casting to fire Chromatic Splendor, which consumes all held crystals in one hit. Art of Violence also inflicts Dispersion, immobilizing the target for 1.5 seconds.
Step 2 — Final Bow. At full 120 Substance, Carlotta enters Final Bow: the damage of her Liberation, Death Knell, and Fatal Finale is increased by 80%. A full gauge also unlocks two forte heavies: Containment Tactics (a Heavy Attack that consumes all Substance and cuts 6 seconds off her Skill cooldown) and — once every 22 seconds, while Tinted Crystal is active — Imminent Oblivion, a held-Basic heavy hit counted as Resonance Skill damage that also cuts 6 seconds off the Skill cooldown. Imminent Oblivion is her big forte hit and part of every tested rotation.
Step 3 — Twilight Tango. Her Liberation, Era of New Wave, deals area Glacio damage (counted as Resonance Skill damage), inflicts Deconstruction, and activates Twilight Tango. Deconstruction is her personal DEF shred: hitting a Deconstruction target ignores 18% of its DEF, and between her Inherent Skill — Intro, Chromatic Splendor, Death Knell, and Imminent Oblivion all inflict it — the debuff covers effectively her whole rotation. During Twilight Tango, pressing Normal Attack or Liberation fires Death Knell, a musket shot plus crystal shards (again counted as Skill damage) that steps her in the movement-input direction; each Death Knell grants 1 Meta Vector, and at 4 vectors the next press fires Fatal Finale, ending the state.
Two failure points are built into this flow, and both are about timing the Liberation:
- Twilight Tango wipes Substance — all of it is removed when the state activates and when it ends, and she cannot gain crystals or Substance during it. Casting Liberation with a full or half-built gauge throws the gauge away, so the forte heavy always goes off before the Liberation.
- Final Bow ends if she swaps out during Twilight Tango. Once the Liberation starts, she stays on the field until Fatal Finale fires — swapping mid-sequence loses the 80% multiplier on the remaining shots.
Tested rotation — opener, first rotation only:
Skill, Skill > Swap to the support
Tested field string, every rotation:
Intro > Skill, Skill > Heavy > Liberation > Death Knell 1, 2, 3, 4 > Fatal Finale > Outro
In the standard-speed teams the string ends Fatal Finale > Skill, Skill > Outro instead — the extra Skill pair rebuilds crystals for the next rotation before she leaves. This is the same structure in all six of her tested teams, at a tested field time of about 12.3 seconds and a difficulty rating of 1 — one step above the projection's floor — so there is exactly one rotation to learn, and it is an easy one.
Fast-rotation variant. Her Zhezhi teams are also tested with a fast-swap structure where Zhezhi and Shorekeeper cut their field time through swap cancels. It scores slightly higher but carries a documented failure point from the tested team note: after the supports' fast rotations, returning to Carlotta's Intro finds her Skill still on cooldown with about 0.5 seconds left — the rotation stalls, because she needs that Skill to fill her Forte gauge. Treat it as an execution upgrade for players who want it, not the default.
Build Priorities
Build her as a Resonance Skill damage dealer — 87% of her damage is Skill-typed, which is also why every useful partner buffs Skill damage or Glacio damage.
Sub-stat priority: Crit Rate > Crit DMG > ATK% > Resonance Skill DMG Bonus > Energy Regen.
Build targets: ATK around 2,400, Crit Rate 75%, Crit DMG 300%, Energy Regen 125%, Skill DMG Bonus 43%. The Energy Regen target is not a kit cap — her Liberation costs 100 energy and the whole rotation is built around casting it every field stay, so the target is whatever keeps that loop stable; 125% is the tested comfort point.
Talent priority: Resonance Skill, Forte Circuit, and Resonance Liberation to Lv. 10; Normal Attack and Intro Skill to Lv. 6.
Her best weapon is The Last Dance, her signature Pistols, and the page puts it at 100% as the comparison baseline: ATK, 72% Crit DMG, and up to 48% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus at R1 triggered by her Intro and Liberation casts — aimed exactly at her profile. She is a main DPS, so for anyone who plays her the standing recommendation is her signature at R1. Behind it sit Woodland Aria R1 at 86.42% — a pure stat stick for her, since its Aero effects do nothing on a Glacio carry — Lux & Umber R1 at 85.48%, and Static Mist R1 at 81.55% as backup plans, not the recommendation.
Her Echo setup is 5-piece Frosty Resolve with Sentry Construct as the main Echo. The set is built for her loop: 2-piece gives 12% Resonance Skill damage, and the 5-piece adds 22.5% Glacio damage after a Skill cast plus stacking Skill damage after Liberation casts — both triggers fire naturally in her rotation. Sentry Construct's main-slot bonus adds 12% Glacio and 12% Skill damage, and her every-rotation Liberation charges its Strike Capacitor, resetting the Echo Skill cooldown. For main stats: Crit Rate on Cost 4 (her weapon already carries Crit DMG), and the page's comparison puts Glacio/ATK at 100%, Glacio/Glacio at 98.17%, and ATK/ATK at 91.62% on Cost 3 — the top two are close enough that sub-stat quality decides between them.
Team Fit & Account Value
Carlotta's partners are chosen by one rule: who buffs Resonance Skill or Glacio damage, and who adds real damage of their own while she holds the field. Her number 1 team is Carlotta with Lynae and Shorekeeper — it is her highest-tested structure and, at difficulty 1, also her most comfortable.
- Lynae works as her best partner mostly through personal damage, not buffs. In the tested team she deals about a quarter of the team's output, part of it through her Tune Rupture Response, which fires off Carlotta's own Tune Breaks. Her Outro grants the incoming Resonator 15% All DMG Amplification and 25% Resonance Liberation DMG Amplification — but Carlotta's Liberation sequence is counted as Resonance Skill damage, so only the 15% half reaches her. Lynae is the rare case where the buff fit is partial and the partner wins on her own numbers anyway.
- Zhezhi is the buff-focused alternative, tested just behind at equal or higher execution difficulty. Her Outro grants the incoming Resonator 20% Glacio DMG Amplification and 25% Resonance Skill DMG Amplification — both halves fit Carlotta, whose damage is 87% Skill-typed — and her Liberation's coordinated attacks add off-field damage while Carlotta shoots. The page's team-buff study puts Carlotta's personal damage highest with Zhezhi (100%, against Lumi's 97.99% and Taoqi's 95.54%). Zhezhi is tested on two sets: Moonlit Clouds, which pushes more ATK into Carlotta through the Outro, and Empyrean Anthem, which drops that buff and instead raises Zhezhi's own share from roughly a sixth to roughly a fifth of the team's output — the tested totals favor her own damage slightly.
- Lumi and Taoqi are the cheaper Skill-damage buffers from the page's study, at 97.99% and 95.54% of Carlotta's Zhezhi-buffed damage respectively. One printed caveat: Carlotta's damage with Lumi drops if a proper rotation is not used, so Lumi is the less forgiving option.
- Shorekeeper holds the third slot in the top structures — healing plus the Crit Rate support a crit-built carry wants. Buling is the tested alternative there, and the tested team note is honest about the trade: without a Crit Rate support in the team, Carlotta's average damage dips even though her crit highs look bigger. The Buling structure is her lowest-tested team.
Use the live Team DPS section for the current tested compositions, ordering, DPS values, equipment, and rotations — those cards update from the validated projection and are the only source for mutable team results on this page.
Her honest limits: her Outro deals one hit and buffs nobody, so she gives the team nothing when she leaves the field; she wants a long, uninterrupted 12-second field window, with two kit-enforced timing rules (forte heavy before Liberation, no swapping during Twilight Tango); and her partner slots narrow quickly to Skill-damage buffers and strong personal damage dealers. She also brings no Negative Status application, so she cannot switch on status-keyed mode buffs by herself.
Sequence Value
Carlotta is complete at S0 — the crystal loop, Final Bow, Imminent Oblivion, Twilight Tango, and Deconstruction all function without sequences. The page's sequence damage chart: S0 100% → S1 110% → S2 134% → S3 156% → S4 168% → S5 174% → S6 231%.
- S1 — Beauty Blazes Brightest Before It Fades (3/5): Against a target with Deconstruction, her damage gains 12.5% Crit Rate — and since her own kit keeps Deconstruction on the target through the whole rotation, this is close to permanent. Chromatic Splendor also restores 30 Substance if it hits a target still carrying Dispersion from the first Skill cast, smoothing the gauge build. Half comfort, half damage.
- S2 — Fallen Petals Give Life to New Blooms (5/5): Fatal Finale's multiplier increases by 126% — a direct spike on the hit the entire Twilight Tango builds toward. This is where the chart jumps to 134%, and the first real stopping point.
- S3 — Adelante, Cortado, Spinning in Grace (5/5): Her Outro gains an extra strike worth 1032.18% of her ATK, and Art of Violence plus Chromatic Splendor gain 93% multiplier — 156% on the chart.
- S4 — Yesterday's Raindrops Make Finest Wine (3/5): Casting any of her forte or normal Heavy Attacks grants the team 25% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus for 30 seconds — her only team buff, and it fits partners like Zhezhi. A luxury node, not a stopping point by itself.
- S5 — Toast to Past, Today, and Every Day to Come (3/5): Imminent Oblivion's multiplier increases by 47% — real, but the smallest step on the chart (168% → 174%).
- S6 — As the Curtain Falls, I Remain What I Am (5/5): Death Knell fires double shards for a total 186.6% multiplier increase and inflicts Scattering, immobilizing the target on hit. The 231% ceiling, for dedicated Carlotta mains.
Realistic stopping points: S0 covers everything she does. Owners who play her regularly get the most from S2; everything past it is vertical investment, with S6 as the whale ceiling.
Pull Value
Pull Carlotta if:
- You love the character herself — her design, her story, the musket-and-crystal Twilight Tango — and you are pulling for that reason alone.
- You are collecting, and completion matters more to you than power.
That is the whole list — there is no power-based reason to pull her right now.
Skip or delay Carlotta if:
- You want damage — newer limited carries deliver more at S0 for the same cost.
- You are an F2P or low spender counting every pull — her best structure wants Lynae or Zhezhi, Shorekeeper, and ideally her signature.
- You already own Lynae or Zhezhi and think Carlotta is their missing carry — it works the other way: they are her missing pieces, and they serve newer teams better.
- You are returning to the game and remember her as a top DPS — she was, back in Version 2.0. The game has moved on; check the live Team DPS section before spending anything on her.
